LeBron has the inside track, but Joel is an interesting watch.
This year’s NBA MVP race is tighter than ever with stars like LeBron James, Joel Embiid, Steph Curry, and more. They are all striving for greatness and trying to lead their teams to a title. But let’s dive in and discuss where the NBA MVP race stands right now, especially after Anthony Davis just got hurt.
This year’s top candidates are all having an incredible start to the season and are also getting their team wins.
To start, to be an MVP, you have to be dominant and a team player and help your team win.
All of these stars are outstanding, but only one can win MVP. They all are incredible players who lead their teams and make the NBA exciting and fun. These are the guys we see on social media every day making crazy plays and blowing up the internet.
At 36, LeBron is leading the Lakers to 21 wins with only 7 losses. He is averaging nearly 26 points per game and is shooting 50%. James is defying age and proving everyone wrong. Showing that he is still the star of this league and the GOAT of the 2000s-2010s. Lebron could easily win MVP this year, especially after this Davis injury. His odds are at +120.
Steph Curry is the outright greatest shooter of all time. He has revolutionized basketball, and he has been putting together a year for the making. Steph is averaging 30 points per game and shooting at 50 percent. He is averaging 5 3’s made per game. He has been incredible and has carried the Warriors to 15 wins. Stephen Curry could definitely win MVP even though his odds stand at +1000.
Next is Nikola Jokic. He is averaging nearly 27 points per game and shooting 56 percent! The crazy thing is that he is doing this all while also putting up about nine assists and nearly 12 rebounds a game. No big man can pass and lead an offense like Nikola Jokic, and he can do it extremely efficiently. Jokic leads the Nuggets offense perfectly and is one of the most hard-working NBA players. He will always try to find the open man and is a very unselfish player. His odds for MVP are at +400.
Last but definitely not least is the man who’s been unstoppable, Joel Embiid. Embiid is averaging nearly 30 points on 54 percent shooting. He has improved massively in every single stat since last year, truly showing that he is evolving. He has even improved his 3-point percentage by 7 percent, which is impressive. Embiid has led the 76ers to an amazing season so far, and with him and Simmons, they look like a real playoff threat this year. His odds for MVP is +500.
After looking at the candidates, each of these stars stands a great chance at the MVP award this year. But some do have a better chance than others. As you can see from their odds before, LeBron is favored for this MVP award; But if you have been watching the NBA, Joel Embiid is one of the most likable candidates. He has been just as dominant as James, if not more. Also, Embiid has led the 76ers just like LeBron has led the Lakers.
However, this MVP award folds out. It will be exciting to watch.
