February is the first anniversary of rapper Pop Smoke’s murder.
Known for songs like Welcome to The Party, Gatti, Foreigner, Dior, The Woo, and others, Pop (birth name Bashar Jackson), danced into many rap fans’ hearts and became the voice of New York rap.
But you may not know that Pop also did the ‘woo dance’ when it came to basketball.
Before he was a rapper, Jackson played ball. At age 15, he received a scholarship to play for Rocktop Academy, a notable Philidelphia-based prep school. However, doctors found a heart murmur, and that ended any chance of playing competitively.
But that didn’t stop Pop from playing the game for fun and in films. The film, Boogie, will be released in March of this year. In the movie, Pop plays the antagonist, Monk, a basketball star who has a feud with the movie’s main character.
Pop Smoke’s legacy in basketball with the film. As he would say …
Woooooooo!
Guys, what’s this I here about someone destroying Pop Smoke’s grave? Are you out of your mind? You don’t do that to the dead. That’s just straight out disrespect. Honestly can’t believe I’m commenting on disrespect again.
