RIP, King Von. Let his story be the one that stops violence for good.

The slaughter of young men in music and sports continues. This time, we said goodbye to rapper King Von, who was shot and killed last Friday while at a nightclub in Atlanta, He died as a result of an altercation with the crew of Quando Rondo, with whom Von had been feuding.

Von was 26 years old, known for songs like The Code with Polo G, and the album LeVon James, which was written as a tribute to basketball great LeBron James.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve lost an athlete or rapper to gun violence or drugs. The list includes rappers XXXTentacion, Jimmy Wopo, Pop Smoke, Smoke Dawg, Huey, Lil Peep, Mac Miller, Juice Wrld, and athletes Andre Waters and Jose Fernandez. It has to stop.

In a study, 51.5 percent of rappers’ deaths were linked to gun violence–the #1 cause of death.

I said this once, and I’ll repeat it: A documentary should be made about the impact of drugs and gun violence on rap and sports. Let’s stop young men from becoming statistics.

RIP, King Von. Let his story be the one that stops violence for good.
