To Honor Kelly Asbury, Here Are A Few of Shrek’s Sports Connections

,

Asbury, 60, directed Shrek and other major animated films.

Friday, we said goodbye to Shrek 2 director, Kelly Asbury. It was a personal loss for me because Asbury influenced my work. In his honor, let’s look at Shrek’s sports impact.

One enthusiastic Shrek fan started a petition to change the name of every sport to ‘Shrek.’ “We can make sports names great again!” said the fan. (Only six people have signed his petition.)

Another impact is Shrek’s sports-related portrays on YouTube. In one, Shrek was depicted racing in a dog competition (394k views). Another had Shrek boxing Mike Tyson (2.1k) views.

RIP, Kelly Asbury, a legendary director of animated films.

Sports “like onions have layers,” Shrek would say, and here’s a beat I created with that thought in mind.
