NFL Great Richmond Webb, My Guest on ‘Route 4 Sports’

, ,

What a treat it was to interview NFL great, Richmond Webb.

I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to interview great sports minds, current and former professional athletes, and knowledgeable journalists and broadcasters. But you never know what to expect when high-profile guests appear on the show. Will they be informative, likable, answer the questions, and be happy to join the podcast? Or will they be a bit standoffish and not engage easily in good conversation? Luckily, I haven’t experienced the latter.

This week, I was lucky enough to have one of the NFL greats on the program, a former player who was also an absolute pleasure to speak with. Richmond Webb, formerly of the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals, joined The Route 4 Sports Podcast.

I couldn’t ask for a better guest–given the person that he is, the player that he was, and the respect he holds with his peers. His resume speaks for itself.

–Drafted by Cowboys, 9th overall pick, 1990 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M

–The Sporting News NFL ROY ( chosen by players, coaches & executives)

–7 straight Pro Bowls, 1990-1996

–First-Team All-Pro twice (voted twice as the best at his position in the entire league)

–Fantastic 13-year career–11 with Miami & 2 in Cincinnati

–Voted into the 1990’s All-Decade Team, and

–Set Dolphins; record with 118 straight games played at LT.

Webb told stories from his playing days and shared thoughts on today’s game. He also speculated on the Dolphins and if he feels they’re close to winning another Super Bowl. He also shared insights about playing with Dan Marino and what it was like blocking Bruce Smith.
