‘Mario Vs. Sonic at The Olympics.EXE,’ An Original Sports Creepypasta

A day later I left town without saying my goodbyes. But I still don’t think I’m safe.

It’s 2019. I was in my room playing Mario vs. Sonic at The Olympic Games. Ironically, I was supposed to be training for the following week’s game. A QB, I was under pressure. It was a state playoff game, after all.

Then I heard the doorbell ring. The mailman had a package with a note attached. It was from my teammate, Calvin. The note looked like it had been written in a hurry.

I can’t take this anymore! Take it! I’m running away from this place! He’s after me! If you don’t get rid of it, he’ll come after you too! Destroy it! Please! Don’t even think about playing! That’s what he wants you to do! Calvin.

I was shocked! Opening the package, I found a disc with a label, Mario Vs Sonic at The Olympic Games.EXE.
“What’s so dangerous about this?” I thought.  I started playing.

Little did I know at that point that it would be the worst decision of my life!

The title screen was normal at first, but as soon as I hit ‘start,’ Mario and Sonic’s eyes became bright red. Maybe it was just a glitch, I thought. The character screen had only three characters: Luigi, Tails, and Knuckles. The latter two were locked, so I chose Luigi. The screen became static at first and, then, went to the first event, which was boxing.

It was Luigi vs Mario, and I barely won round one. A few minutes later, Mario was pounding his brother piece by piece, almost as though the action was realistic. Then, POW! Luigi was knocked out with very realistic wounds on his face.

Mario, with red, glowing eyes, punched Luigi into the stomach. He had killed him! Why would Nintendo put that in a Mario game?

I kept playing. I chose Tails and it moved to the next event, Track Hide and Seek. Tails was breaking the fourth wall and pointing to me to get him out of there. I made Tails run all over the track when Sonic started running after him. This was the very resemblance of Sonic.EXE. But Sonic looked even scarier with red eyes and sharp fangs and blood on his fur. He caught Tails and tore him to shreds!

When he broke the fourth wall, he said, “See you at the football game!

At that point, I stopped playing. What in the devil was going on? Why was he going to the football game? And what would he do if and when he caught me?

Well, the game came the following day, and my team won. It was a deadly win. After the game, Sonic and Mario emerged from the stands holding AK-47s. Fifty people died that night, including four of my teammates

“We loved playing with you, Gertrude!” shouted Mario. “You lasted longer than Calvin,” boasted Sonic.

A day later I left town without saying my goodbyes. But I still don’t think I’m safe. I don’t think I’ll ever be safe. I live with questions: Why did I play that game?

At least something turned out ok. The police arrested the shooters, thank goodness.
