Incorporating sports’ references in songs is a Lizzo specialty.
Rapper, singer, flute player, and actress Lizzo is well known for the hit single, Truth Hurts, and for starring in Hustlers and Ugly Dolls. But Lizzo also has the sports world’s attention.
It all started when Lizzo sang in the chorus of Truth Hurts, referencing a ‘new man’ on the Minnesota Vikings.’ That got the Vikings’ attention. “One of our other tight ends is from Detroit, so I had to go [to him] immediately, and he said, nope, it’s not him. So I’m still searching,” said Vikings’ tight end Kyle Rudolph.
But that’s not the only way Lizzo has been involved in the world of sports. Last year, she danced with the ‘Lakers Dancers’ at a game as they performed her hit single, Juice. At the game, Lizzo praised the Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns, saying, “both teams are great. I’m personally cheering for No. 32. That’s my baby.” The duo remixed Truth Hurts using the words, New man on the Minnesota Timberwolves.”
Lizzo may be the greatest rapper of our generation when it comes to mixing pro sports and rap.

I dedicate this article to Lizzo, a person who needs our support. Get this: Jillian Michaels, America’s toughest trainer, one said, “It won’t be cool if she gets diabetes,” which is an obvious reference to Lizzo weight. I never heard of a trainer who criticized a person’s weight instead of helping that person. But there’s a first time for everything. My advice: let’s focus on Lizzo’s music, not on her weight.
