‘Football Potential,’ An Original Screenplay (Scene Four)

,

We open in the locker room on the night of the state championship game. Geykume is putting on his cleats, getting ready to play. Meanwhile, Andrew and Coach Geoffrey are arguing.

Andrew: {Mad} “Kicked off the team?! Why?!”

Geoffrey: “You decided to lead a criminal organization that does drugs and abuses women. I can’t have that type of trash on my team!”

Andrew: “You’re letting Geykume stay?!”

Geoffrey: “That was his first and only time. You’ve been making stupid decisions since you were a freshman. For that, you are off the team! Get out of my locker room right now!”

Andrew: {Getting mad.} “You want to see what you’re messing with? I’ll show you!”

{Coach Geoffrey pushes Andrew.}

Geoffrey: {Raging} “Back off! Out! Now!”

{Andrew stomps out of the locker room, giving the finger to Geykume on the way out.

Coach Geoffrey goes over to Geykume.}

Geoffrey: {Excited.} “Geykume! Guess what?! Representatives from the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams are here tonight. They’re looking for recruits!”

Geykume: {Nervous.} “I can’t go out there in front of them! Those are two of the biggest teams in the NFL! I’ll be humiliated!”

Geoffrey: “Come on!” {He slaps Geykume.} “All the drama you have gone through this week has to lead up to this moment. This could enhance your career! Now go out there and show them who’s boss!”

Geykume: {Pumped.} “For the ‘Cats!”

{Eye Of The Tiger starts playing as Geykume walks out onto the field, ready to win.

We see a montage of him scoring touchdowns, one by one, for this team.

A timecard pops up, reading ‘Three Quarters Later.’

The game is in its final seconds. Hollywood’s Bleeding by Post Malone starts playing.

Geykume, thinking about what he’s been through, throws a ‘Hail Mary’ that’s shown in slow motion.}

Announcer: “Will this win the game for The Cats?!” {The touchdown is made at the buzzer.} “It will! The Cats are now Iowa’s new State Champions! This is the greatest comeback story in the history of Iowa football! ‘The Geykume Effect’ won it!”

{A time card pops up reading ’30 minutes later.’

We are now in a diner where we see Geykume and the team celebrating the win.

Meanwhile, at a nearby booth, Andrew and Boris are raging over Geykume’s betrayal of The Sports Fast Life.}

Andrew: {Mad} “Man! I can’t believe this dude snitching on us like that! Thanks to him, I got booted off my team! Ooh!”

Boris: {Equally angry.} “Yeah! Geykume ratted us out to the FBI, too! {He pulls out an order from the FBI to shut down the Sports Fast Life.} Look at this letter from the Feds!”

{A waitress comes.}

Waitress: “What can I get you, boys?”

Andrew: “A double burger and fries with a vanilla milkshake.”

Boris: “A pancake breakfast with a vodka.” {He pulls out a fake ID.} “Here’s my ID.”

Waitress: “Coming right up!.”

{The waitress leaves.}

Andrew: “Here’s my plan. When Geykume makes it big in football, we’ll kill him.”

Boris: “We can get even with him. Good plan!”

{Boris and Andrew laugh maniacally.

Meanwhile, Geykume and Coach Geoffrey are at a separate booth.}

Geoffrey: “Good game tonight.”

Geykume: “Thanks. I knew I could do it!”

Geoffrey: “Me too! Both NFL teams want you. So who are you going with?”

{Three years go by….

We see Geykume playing for the Patriots. He’s a two time Super Bowl Champion and a three-time NFL MVP.

We see a montage of Geykume scoring and winning games for the Patriots.

At the end, his new coach, Coach Zayn, high-fives him.}

Zayn: “Geykume, you are officially one of the best players I’ve ever known. Let’s have lunch to talk about your future. Any preferences?”

Geykume: {Ecstatic.} “Gluten-free. Fat-free. Antioxidant-rich, Made locally by cruelty-free chefs who use BPA and CPA free plates, please!”

Zayn: “I know of a good seafood joint that has all that.”

Geykume: “Thanks, Coach. Let’s do it!”

{What Geykume doesn’t know is that he’s about to be gunned down by Andrew and Boris.}

To be continued in the epic conclusion of Football Potential.
