A versatile actor, Christopher Reeve was an accomplished athlete, too.
Actor Christopher Reeve was well known for his iconic role as Superman. The ‘Man of Steel’ also participated in sports.
In high school, Reeve played soccer, baseball, tennis, and hockey while at Princeton Country Day School. The school has since named its hockey invitational tournament sportsmanship award in his honor.
Later, Reeve specialized as an equestrian. He began interested in 1985 while filming Anna Karenina. In 1989, Reeve began riding in public events.
In 1995, Reeve competed in Commonwealth Dressage and Combined Training Association finals in Culpeper, Virginia. He finished in fourth place. In 1995, a horse Reeve was riding made a refusal, injuring him severely. He was unable to move from the waist down.
He died in 2004.
