India’s chess-playing prodigy continues to develop.

Mithun poses with a tournament official.
On Sunday in Singapore, Mithun Pranav participated in the 9th Celebration of Children Chess Challenge, Under 8 category. The Challenge was held at the Sports Hub Library at Stadium Singapore.
The tournament had six Swiss rounds with 15 minutes for each player. Over one-hundred twenty players participated, and Pranav finished runner-up in the Pre-School division.
“We continue to be impressed with Mithun’s development,” his father told The Sports Column. “This weekend’s schedule presented a significant challenge for him, but Mithun came through in above-age and peer-level competition. We are thrilled with the outcome!”
