The match never happened, but almost did.
Soulja Boy one of the biggest names in rap. Chris Brown is one of the biggest names in RnB. The two artists were going to settle a feud by duking it out in UFC.
It all started when Soulja commented on Karrueche Tran’s picture on Instagram. Tran was Brown’s ex-girlfriend, and seeing Soulja comment about the mother of his child didn’t sit well with Brown.
Soulja eventually tried to make peace with Brown in an emotional Instagram post–even offering to collaborate with him. “At the end of the day,” said Soulja. “It’s not about who started the beef. It’s about who ends it.” But the offering was to no avail. The artists finally decided to settle their differences in a UFC boxing match.
Soulja announced that boxing great Floyd Mayweather would be training him for the match. Brown announced that heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson would be his trainer.
A date (January 2018) and place (Las Vegas, then Dubai) was set, but the fight was canceled after Brown pulled out. He thought it was an immature way to settle an argument.
Ironically, Brown picked another fight, this time with Migos rapper Offset over a 21 Savage meme.
Maturity, I suppose, is in the eye of the beholder.
