Luka Modrić once said, “You can’t predict football because anything can happen.” Well, Modrić was talking about soccer, but football is football, isn’t it, and sports are sports. Crazy me wants to defy the odds.
The unexpected happens every single NFL season. Who would have predicted that Patrick Mahomes would throw for 5000 yards and 50 touchdowns in his first season as a starter or that Nick Foles would come off the bench and lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl win?
The surprise list is long, and there’s likely to be no end to it. It makes predicting as dicey as hell, but forecasting is one of the things we love to do. Right? Just think: every Fantasy pick is a prediction about a player we believe will perform on Sundays.
So with deep breath taken, here are my Top Ten bets for the 2019 season. I’ll come back at season’s end and tally up. So, let’s set the table….
The New England Patriots won’t make it out of the first round of the playoffs.
The Cleveland Browns will win the AFC North.
DeAndre Hopkins and Antonio Brown will both have 2,000+ receiving yards.
Aaron Donald will win league MVP.
Daniel Jones will be the Giants starter by week 8.
The Dallas Cowboys will reach the Super Bowl.
The Denver Broncos will win the AFC West.
Alvin Kamara won’t start more than three games this season.
Christian McCaffery will lead the league in all-purpose yards.
Kyler Murray will throw more interceptions than touchdown passes.
I’ll bet you have bold predictions, too. If so, please leave them in the Comments section…or react to mine.
