Flores tells the world: “If I can do it, so can you.”
AJ Flores, a 20-year-old, lives in Gregory, Texas. Both parents are educators, and he thinks that’s how and where he got his work ethic. And that’s what he needed to achieve what he has–set to compete in the CrossFit Games in San Antonio at month’s end.
AJ in high school
To get there, Flores had to transform his body. AJ tipped the scales at 255 pounds by the time he finished his high school football career. That was in 2016. Months past and Flores wasn’t doing much of anything. He was bored, too.
Then, after he saw his older brother lose weight, he figured that would be a good option personally.”What are you doing to lose weight?” he asked. “CrossFit,” his brother replied. So AJ decided to give it a try.
Flores fell in love with everything about CrossFit–so much so that he now weighs in at 178 pounds. But it wasn’t easy. He had to work off his butt to get where he is Now that he’s there, Flores doesn’t figure to stop anytime soon.
AJ today
The goal is to keep lean and to get ripped and stronger. The latter is coming via lifting weights, and now Flores is ready to take his passion to the competitive level. Enter the CrossFit Games. On July 28, Flores will try to Snatch and Clean and Jerk 300kg. AJ’s goal is to qualify for Nationals as an 89kg lifter.
Over two, long years, Flores never gave up on the quest to transform his body. And, now, he wants to keep improving.
If anyone can do it, AJ Flores can. He’s a role model, proof of what’s possible with dedication and hard work. And if AJ can do it, then you can do.
