Is The ‘Golden Dynasty’ Finished? No Way!

, , , , ,

Here are three reasons why you shouldn’t dismiss Golden State–despite injuries to KD and Klay.

Toronto is the new king of the NBA. Kawhi Leonard and company (including the bench) were just a better team in the Finals. The Warriors, on the other hand, were depleted.

So where do the Warriors go from here? With Kevin Durant out with a torn Achilles–and now Klay Thompson suffering from a torn ACL–big questions loom, especially with free agency just around the corner.

Have we seen the end of GSW? No! Here’s why.

Warriors Will Offer Max to KD and Klay

Max contract offers are coming. Expect Klay to be offered a 5-year deal worth $191 million. KD should get a supermax deal at 5-years and $221 million.

It’s crazy to think that the Warriors could have three max deals on the books, but I think that’s what’s in the cards. And those rich offerings aren’t over. Draymond Green becomes a free agent next summer.

How will GSW cover those deals? Revenues will skyrocket when the team moves to downtown San Fran. The Warriors will be able to keep its stars AND pay the league $350 million in luxury taxes.

Klay is Hitting his Prime

Klay Thompson had a great postseason, averaging 20.7 ppg and 5.1 rpg. He also showed why he’s arguably the best two-way shooting guard in the league, guarding the likes of James Harden, Damian Lillard, and Kawhi Leonard. And Klay not only plays for the Warriors he is a warrior! In Game 5, he came back from a hamstring injury and dropped 26 points on 21 shots. Yes, Klay Thompson suffered a torn ACL, but Klay is one tough son of a gun. He’ll be back to old ways when he gets healthy later this year.

Steph Curry Has a Chip on His Shoulder

It would have been one for the ages had Steph made that last shot–to win Game 6 and make the final shot ever in Oracle.

But that disappointment went keep down Steph. He’ll be entering his 11th NBA season next year, and he’ll have a big chip on his shoulder. Big shoulders he’ll need, too. The narrative for Curry has changed with KD out for the year and Klay possibly gone, too.

Expect Steph to be the 2015 Steph, when he won MVP. Yes, it will be hard if GSW’s bench doesn’t improve but–no matter what happens in that regard–Curry will be ready to prove that ‘The Golden Dynasty’ isn’t over.
