Here are my top five teams.
Cleveland Browns: A
General Manager John Dorsey, who’s having one-hell-of-an offseason. has the Browns heading in the right direction. Dorsey traded for Odell to kick off the summer and had the best draft grade, in my opinion.
Although the Browns didn’t have a first-round pick, they were able to snag Greedy Williams from LSU in the second round with pick #46. Williams was projected to go in the first round, but many teams passed because of rumblings of ‘an attitude problem,’ That didn’t stop the Browns from snagging arguably the best corner in the draft.
The other picks were great, too. Cleveland needed more depth on the defensive side of the ball and got it.
Arizona Cardinals: A
Kliff Kingsbury and his new-look offense will be rejuvenated with this year’s #1 pick, Kyler Murray.
With their second pick, AZ selected Byron Murphy. Murphy, a speedster who can cover well, will benefit from having Patrick Patterson alongside him.
GM Steve Keim also selected two receivers who’ll be special talents in this league–Andy Isabella (2nd Round) and Hakeem Butler (4th Round). Kingsbury will use Isabella in the slot. Butler, a big receiver, can win 50/50 balls.
Washington Redskins: B+
Washington had a big-time draft–with some luck, too–when OSU’s Dwayne Haskins slid all the way to #15. Haskins, who was arguably the best QB available, is a steal for the ‘Skins. Later in the first round, Washington selected Montez Sweat at #26. This guy is a MONSTER! Haskins and Sweat are transcendent players who can lead the ‘Skins back to relevance.
San Francisco 49ers: B
Nick Bosa was just a flat-out great pick for this organization. Bosa, Ford, Buckner, and Alexander, together, means that the 49ers will be able to control the line and wreak havoc on QBs.
GM John Lynch also gave Jimmy G new offensive toys in Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd (both wideouts), both of whom have top-notch speed and should contribute immediately.
Samuel can run across the field and go deep. Hurd, who transitioned from RB to wideout, may be used to catch the ball out of the backfield.
Buffalo Bills: B
Ed Oliver may have been the steal of the Draft. He slid all the way to the Bills at #9. Oliver, who has shades of Donald and Suh, will be an elite pass rusher–perhaps even the best pass rusher in the league. With Oliver, the Bills defense (ranked #2 last year) might be able to move up to #1.
Then, in the second round, Buffalo addressed OL needs by selecting Cody Ford at #38. This value pick will help Josh Allen have more time in the pocket.
