Woodward Appointed Solskjaer ManU Interim Manager, Right?

, , ,

Surprise, surprise! Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keeps winning.

Last month Manchester United parted ways with manager Jose Mourinho. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was named the interim, there to see out the remainder of the season–at least that was the arrangement.

Yes, United Chairman, Ed Woodward, hinted that Solskjaer would make the list of those to be considered for the permanent position should he produce good results. But most football pundits and ManU fans thought he’d be out of the job, replaced by a proven manager.

But, oh boy! Four and half weeks later, Solskjaer has become the fans’ favorite.

His candidacy for the permanent job is being talked about as though he’s the headliner.

Why such affirmation? It’s Ole’s unblemished record. That performance has put enormous pressure on Woodward to stay the course with him–even though it was no secret that the management’s preferred long-term managerial choice was either Zidane or Potchetinho.

The situation has turned into a nail-biter for management. Do they go with a previously unproven man who has hit the ground running? Do they go with a big name that has already delivered championships?

The longer that Ole keeps winning, the less (it seems) that fans will accept anybody else. Think about it. How do you keep a job permanently? You win matches. If Ole continues to do just that, then nobody should be able to say he shouldn’t get the job. And that’s what club legend, Andy Cole, told Skysports.

Unlike Mourinho, who seemed to stifle much of the greatness associated with ManU’s star-studded lineup, Ole has unleashed the likes of Pogba, Rashford, and Martial. United’s mojo is back! They concede a lot of goals, yes, but that has never been a problem–as long as they keep winning.

The bottom line is this. At the time of writing this article, Ole has won eight out of eight. If you think that’s a fluke, then think about the 1-0 win he registered against Tottenham Hotspurs or the 3-1 win United victory over Arsenal.

It’s clear: Ole means business!
