In Making Great Personnel Decisions, Steelers Buck Odds, Stand Tall

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had to make some hard personnel decisions regarding elite players–more decisions of that type than most other teams.

For example, at one point they had Mike Wallace AND Antonio Brown under contract, but management chose to not chase Wallace and, instead, court Brown. I think its crystal clear now that the Steelers made the right choice.

Another example is the choice they made between Juju Smith-Schuster and Martavius Bryant. Not many fans thought Juju wouldn’t amount to much–especially in comparison to Bryant–but, again, look at the outcome.

Want more examples? Well, just look at how the Le’Veon Bell drama is evolving. Unheralded James Conner stepped in and has had a fantastic year! I’ll admit I was in favor of “paying the man” (Bell, that is), but football is a team sport and Bell is too much about himself.

Personnel decisions are just one reason I like the Steelers.

They’ve become a well-rounded team. They care about their players. They make smart decisions. How do you beat that?
