The team called the Karabakh of Agdam is a sign of patriotism in this country.
The Karabakh football team was created in the city of Jankendi. The football team “Dinamo,” which was created in 1927, was located in the city of Jankendi and, until 1977, participated in competitions under this name. Since 1974 it was called “Karabakh”.
In 1977 he was the winner of the Azerbaijani football championship in the USSR. Between the 1950s and 1980s he participated in the competitions of the USSR Cup. Then the Armenian community of this region, unfairly making this team their own, banned Azerbaijanis from playing in the team. The football team “Karabakh” named after Karabakh and worthily representing Azerbaijan globally, was created in Agdam. The football team of the Agdam region was created in 1951. The age of the “Karabakh” team is counted since that year. The names of the team changed many times over the years:•
“Mahsul”: 1951-1977•
“Shafag”: 1977-1982• “Kooperator
“: 1982-1987• “Karabakh
“: 1987-2001• ” Karabakh-Azersun
“: 2001-2004• “Karabakh
“: from 2004 to the present.
Many people provide incomparable services to Agdam football. We must highlight above all the work of Shahbaz Judabajishov in the development of football in Agdam, who trained the children tirelessly. Adil Nadirov, Elbrus Abbasov, Eljan Guliyev, Shafaq Humbataliyev, Idris Guliyev and the others are the pupils and followers of Mr. Shahbaz. Adil Nadirov, Elbrus Abbasov, Eljan Dzhavadzadeh, Agaselim Mirdzhavadov and Nazim Mehraliyev were coaches of the team for several years and did their best to get the team occupied. a worthy place in the Azerbaijani championship. The team achieved its first major victory in 1968. He finished second in the republic championships and was awarded the silver medal.
The national team of the region successfully represented Azerbaijan in the city of Sadovsky in Odessa Province in the past. Then, in the Patarburnari region, the Agdam team participated in the cup competition with 38 teams and finished in second place. In 1966 the Agdam team participated under the name “Mahsul ” in the internal competition of the Soviet Union, which stopped its activity two years later. In 1977 “Karabakh” was re-established again under “Shafag”. The “Shafag” was the only representative of Agdam football until 1982. From 1982 to 1987, the team participated in competitions under the name “Kooperator”.
The years developed were after 1988. For the first time, in 1988, the “Karabakh” was awarded the title of Azerbaijan champion of the USSR when Azerbaijan was under the rule of the Soviet Union. After that championship, “Karabakh” got the certificate as the second team of the USSR championship. In 1989 the “Karabakh” competed in the ninth zone of the USSR championship. In 1990, due to changes in the zone competition of the second team of the USSR championship, the “Karabakh” was forced to participate in the zone competitions of the Azerbaijani championship of the USSR.
Back then, the late Siyavush Farzaliyev, who worked as director of the “champagne wine ” plant, took on sponsoring the team. In relation to the increase in support for football, our players also increased the number of their successes. In 1988, 1990, and 1993 they won the title of champions of the republic, and in 1989, they participated in the ninth zone of the USSR championship. In 1994, they played in the tournament of the teams CIS, and in 1977 they obtained the right to participate in the competitions of the “Intertoto.” In addition, during these years, the “Karabakh” faced in a variety of competitions the football teams of various countries, such as France, Finland, Turkey, Iran, Israel and the Czech Republic. In Agdam, nobody said, “I’m going to the stadium”.
They said, “I’m going to the palace.” The Agdam stadium was the “palace” in every word. Because there was the house that Panah khan had ordered to be built about 100 years which remained as it was before. Even the name Agdam is derived from it: the white roof, the house built with earth. There rest in peace in the cemetery many khans of the generation of Dzhavanshir, Jurshid Banu Natavan and their families. The history of the palace dates from the late seventeenth century.Formerly lived there Xurshidbanu Natavan. One of the squares where the horses of the Khans of Karabakh competed was located there.
Later, in place of those squares , the central stadium of Agdam was built. Everyone calls that stadium a “palace.” In one part of the palace, which occupied a large area, was the cemetery of the family of the khans of Karabakh. There were the cemeteries of Panahali khan, Mehdigulu khan, Sardzhali khan, Mehrali khan, Natavan and his children and other members of their families. The latest research confirmed that the history of that cemetery is very old. There tombstones with Albanian scriptures and signs on them were found. The “Karabakh” football team was forced to hold most of its matches in a war situation.
During the USSR championship, not many of their matches were held. In 1991 alone, 12 teams refused to come to Agdam. Of course they were considered technical defeats for the competitors, but at the same time the football fans in Agdam were left without football. During the matches of the national championship, the footballers of “Karabakh” were in danger of death. Many times the parties faced the threat of being incomplete, despite which the “Karabakh” convinced its opponents to finish the match. An episode that remained in the memory of Yashar Huseynov, former footballer of the team: “if I am not mistaken, we played against the “Inshaatchi” of Baku.
The first art is over. We won one to zero. Mr. Agasalim trained with us. Suddenly, very close to him , a bomb exploded. The players of the “Inshaatchi” were very afraid and said that they no longer wanted to follow the match, that it would end with that result. We encouraged them a lot and said the same thing happened in all our matches. They played, but at the end of the game, even without showering, they got on their bus and left Agdam.” The players were willing to fight. On one occasion, they turned to Asif Maharramov, the national hero, who was with his battalion at the stadium base to join the fighting. Fred Asif disagreed with this: “If I knew that with 18 players we would win the war, we would take you all. Now we need more on the football pitches than in the trenches.”
When the national hero Allahverdi Bagirov died, everyone was very sad. They say that remembering his spirit with a minute of silence bombs fell on the stadium, but none of the players moved. Of course, during the years of independence there were many difficult days of “Karabakh”. One of the blackest days in the history of Azerbaijan is the day of the conquest of the city of Agdam (July 23 , 1993), which is the blackest day in the history of the “Karabakh” team. From that date, the team was called the ” refugee team.” It should be noted that in 1992-1993 the “Karabakh” received its competitors in Agdam and played 28 matches there. Karabakh have won the last 22 matches in Agdam.
The interesting thing is that the only party that lost the “Karabakh” in Agdam was its first competition during the history of independence. And the story that began with defeat, continued with a series of victories. O to this, the team also suffered from financial in addition to this problem. That is why he had bad results in 1998 2001 against the strong teams of the national championship. And the financial situation contributed to the team’s top players
leaving “Karabakh”. All these problems were solved in 2001, when the company “Azersun,” one of the largest companies operating in Azerbaijan, sponsored the team. .
In 2001, even though “Karabakh-Azersun” occupied 9th place in the country’s championship, training was going well for the following season and proposed to occupy the highest places in the competition. But after the events that happened in Azerbaijani football, in 2002-to 2003, the championship was incomplete in our country, so it was impossible to achieve the proposed objective. In the 2002-2003 season after a long hiatus, “Karabakh” again took its place among the winners of the Azerbaijani championship. and won the bronze medal. During the 2004-2005 season, the “Karabakh” wanted to start in a more impressive way. In 2004 it regained the name “Karabakh,” and the team was again known. “Karabakh” finished the Azerbaijani football championship as a champion for the first time. He was awarded this title during the second national championship, that is, in 1993. And the second championship was held three years later, in 1996.
In addition, the team ranked second in 1993–1994, and third place in the 2003–2004 and 2009–2010 seasons. He won the country’s cup three times, in 1993, 2006 and 2009. Although the team does not have any specific nicknames, it received various nicknames at different times. Their fans and local media gave them the following nicknames:• “The Horsemen” (Atlılar)The oldest nickname among the nicknames of the “Karabakh” ” is “Atlılar,” i.e., “the riders.” The
nickname is related to the horses of Karabakh. In the logo prepared by the general designers of England were drawn horses, which were the symbols of Karabakh, “The refugee team.”
In 1993, after the conquest of the city of Agdam, the team was expelled from its stadium “the palace,” and was called “the refugee team.” • “The Barcelona” of the CaucasusYear of 2009. UEFA European League . Victory over Rosenborg, after a two-match victory against Honka…
All this made the team receive a new name: the “Karabakh,” “Barcelona ” of the Caucasus, put his signature on our novelties in many European teams. So
we won the first points against the European teams for the first time thanks to this team. Adam’s team achieved this on a continental scale during their initial season, thanks to the goal scored by Bajtiyar Musayev. Our teams passed the preliminary stages for the first time thanks to “Karabakh”. Matches against Israel’s “Makkabi” team were inscribed with gold letters in our football history. Mushfig Huseynov, coach of “Karabakh”, was the “architect” of the victory when 11 years ago he scored a goal as a striker during the Intertoto Cup as a Hayfa representative: two to one. This entered history at the same time as a victory in the first visit of our teams at European level .
In short, it is already the second year that “Karabakh” is the successor of the UEFA Cup , which first passed each stage in the Euroleague tournament . Last year the Agdam players beat a strong team, such as Rosenborg, the Scandinavian representatives, and eliminated a team from the game. as strong as Rosenborg had a lot of repercussions. There were famous footballers who are well known among the great mass of fans of the team. It is enough to point out that Elbrus Abbasov, who started playing football in Agdam and was a follower of “Karabakh” in 1976 during the USSR championship as a member of the team of “Neftchi” was the one who scored more goals than the others, became someone very loved by the fans getting 29 goals.”In the Agdam team, known as “Mahsul,” “Shafag,” “Karabakh”, “Kooperator” and “Karabakh-Azersun,” the following players defended the honor of Agdam football:
Adil Nadirov coach* Eljan GuliyevRamiz Shahmammadov coachElbrus Abbasov coach*Allahverdi Bagirov*Eldar BagirovHuseyn Ahmadov (Sasha)Shafag HumbataliyevMarsel Firudinov*Kamil MammadovAlovsat Dargahov Fikrat AmiraslanovAdalatEljan Dzhavadzadeh coachAgasalim

Those who have an asterisk next to their name have already passed away. Eldar Bagirov was a deputy of the supreme council of the USSR. In 1991 he was murdered indefinitely. And his older brother, Allahverdi Bagirov, Azerbaijan’s national hero, was killed during the fighting in Karabakh . With a word, the
team called the “Karabakh” of Agdam was a sign of patriotism in the country. Now, every young Azerbaijani wants to see himself in the place of the players of “Karabakh” and get motivation to move forward.
