If I could only be at all ten!
Even though the FIFA World Cup is dusted for another four years and the Olympics isn’t for another two years, there are fantastic sporting occasions to fill your calendar next year.
Here are my Bucket List events for 2019.
Audi FIS Ski World Cup: What better way to start the new year than on the slopes? Based in the heart of skiing at Holmenkollen, the event invites 32 of the world’s best skiers to battle it out until the best man and woman is crowned.
Date: 1st January Location: Oslo, Norway
Super Bowl 53: With half-time shows that are events unto themselves, the SB is a must on every fan’s bucket list. Will the Philadelphia Eagles keep the title they earned in Minneapolis? We’ll see. Date: 3rd February Location: Atlanta, USA
Monaco Grand Prix: The Monaco Grand Prix is one of Formula 1’s most important and prestigious races. It’s a favorite for the drivers and fans love it, too. Book one of the many packages and lap up the fun! Date: 23rd- 26th May Location: Monaco
ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: For the first time since 1999, England and Wales combine to host the international competition. There are 11 rounds in total hosting games, including the Cardiff Wales Stadium, The Riverside Durham, Headingley, Edgbaston, and The Oval, with the final being held at Lord’s. It’s a great opportunity to tour two countries! Date: 30th May – 14th July Location: England and Wales
UEFA Champions League Final: Atletico Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano is the host for next year’s Champions League swansong. Will rival Real Madrid (without Cristiano Ronaldo) be on hand to lift the trophy for the fourth year in a row? This pinnacle of the European football calendar is the biggest event of the year! Date: 1st June Location: Madrid, Spain
U.S. Open Golf: The action at Pebble Beach is draped over cliffs above pristine Stillwater Cove. It’s the sixth time in the last half-century that this course has hosted the U.S. Open. Be there! There are many spectator packages available to take advantage of. Date: 13th – 16th June Location: California, USA
Wimbledon: The 2018 edition of Wimbledon was really exciting! Now it’s time to look to 2019. Will Andy Murray win back the crown? Will new talent emerge? Either way, it’s an event to pencil in. Get the strawberries and cream at the ready! Date: 1st – 14th July Location: Wimbledon
Tour de France: This predominantly French race will again be held in Belgium’s capital, Brussels, the second time that the city has hosted the race’s Grand Depart–the first coming in 1958. The 106th edition of this famous race marks the 100th year anniversary of the yellow jersey’s introduction. A trip to watch great cycling is a wonderful way to spend your summer. Date: 6th – 28th July Location: Belgium and France
Rugby World Cup 2019: The rugby union tournament takes place every four years and the Japanese will host the tournament for the first time in history. There will be a total of 48 matches between 20 participating teams held across 12 super venues. The opening match will be played at the Tokyo Stadium and the tournament wraps up at Yokohama Stadium in Kanagawa. Book your trip and be a part of the action! Date: 20th September – 2nd November Location: Japan
Athletics World Championships: While the 2022 FIFA World Cup set to be held in Qatar, athletics will be first to take center stage. Doha beat rivals Barcelona and Eugene to host the 17th edition of this spectacle. Who will be the ‘king of the sprints’ following Usain Bolt’s retirement? Will see Mo Farah compete in the marathon following his decision to leave the track behind? Be there to find out! Date: 28th September – 6th October Location: Doha, Qatar
