Her location, Minneapolis. Her destination, Gold.
X Games Minneapolis kicks off this weekend with the most decorated and high ranking female athletes in the world. And a big spotlight is shining on Samarria Brevard from Riverside California.
Nicknamed “The Serena of Skateboarding,” Brevard was the first women to compete against men in the X Games ‘Real Street Contest.’ Last year she won Silver in the X games ‘Street Competition,’ in addition to being a featured skater on Thrasher Magazine’s ‘King of the Road’ tour.
A big basketball and video game fan, Samarria started skating out of curiosity, trying it while shooting hoops–just the way I started skating as a kid in California. But our similarities end there!
She started admiring Chris Cole vids, honed her craft, and created her own style of skating–a style that sets her apart from all other skaters, both male and female.
Samarria now competes in an increasingly competitive sport, a sport that has attracted tougher competition and an ever-expanding fan base. Those ingredients make these X Games the best yet!
Expect Samarria Brevard to bring her best from Southern California. Her goal is to claim Gold, something that eluded her in 2017. It’s the only target for this seasoned pro.
