Take heed, Rob Manfred, and follow my lead.
A few days ago the Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo slid into home, interfering with Pirates’ catcher Elias Diaz. The buzz on Twitter and around MLB was that Rizzo’s slide was not just illegal, it was downright dirty. Rizzo aimed his slide at Diaz’s legs.
Well, this is the last straw. It’s time for baseball to clean up the game. And I have a game plan to do just that.
Take heed, Rob Manfred, and follow my lead.
#1: Eliminate bats from the game. If a batter loses control of his bat, it may fly into the air and hit a fielder in the head. Baseball bats are dangerous and have no place in the game.
#2: Balls need to go, too. One bad hop could end a career. And if a catcher throws wildly an errant ball could hit a player and send him to the DL.
#3: Dugout steps are unnecessary. It’s too easy for players to slip and fall. Go with a dugout ramp instead or have attendants wheel out position players.
I like my recommendations a lot more than what MLB is doing.
No more breaking up double plays? Nonsense! Limits on trips to the mound? Hogwash!
If this is your idea of baseball, Mr. Manfred, then you can have ‘that’ game. As for me, give me Pete Rose crashing into Ray Fosse.
That’s Baseball!
