United are one of few clubs in the world who can afford to snap away Ronaldo from Real.
The Portuguese arrived at the Bernabeu from United in 2009 and has enjoyed a stunning spell at Real, winning four Champions Leagues and two La Liga titles.
But Cristiano Ronaldo could finally seal his return to Manchester United from Real Madrid after performing sensationally at the World Cup. For sure, the 33-year-old superstar is being linked strongly to a move away from the Bernabeu.
For some time, Ronaldo has been unhappy over his payroll compared to that being earned by Lionel Messi and Neymar. Well aware of interest from United, he warned Real that the team needs to negotiate in good faith or he’ll turn to the Premier League giant.
But Real have been reluctant to bump up his salary. The team may be tempted to sacrifice their talisman by bringing in fresh faces this summer.
If Ronaldo does make the move, it would reunite him with Manchester United’s manager, Jose Mourinho. It is reported that the United boss will try to speak with Ronaldo while they’re both in Russia.
But other clubs have expressed interest, too. Ligue 1 champions, PSG, are ready to duel with United for the services of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. There is a problem, though. The club’s financial fair play issues could ultimately rule it out of the running.
The reality is this: United are one of few clubs in the world who can afford to snap away Ronaldo from Real.
