Even Prince William, president of the Football Association, is derelict of duty. He won’t be available to award the trophy to the winner of the FA Cup.
Enough already about this Royal Wedding!!!
On a weekend that is loaded with important sports events, how could England be so inconsiderate?
First off, the festivities interfere with the Preakness Stakes.
But no, we can’t kick back and enjoy the race. We have to grin and bear it as unwarranted coverage goes on across the sea.
And in case The Parliament has forgotten, two extremely important NBA playoff series are happening.
Will LeBron James once again carry the Cavaliers to victory over the Celtics?
Will Stephen Curry end his shooting slump?
Those are important questions–the real intrigue of this weekend.
And if those spectaculars aren’t enough, on Saturday night the Mariners will hold “Felix Hernandez Bobblehead Night.” Seattle is aflutter.
Truth is, England has never gotten over the Boston Tea Party and losing the Revolutionary War.
Johnny Horton said it best in his The Battle of New Orleans
“We fired our guns and the British kept a-comin‘
There wasn’t nigh as many as there was a while ago
We fired once more and they began to runnin’
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico…”
The British have been trying to get back at us ever since.
That’s why they decided to schedule “the” event on such a loaded sports weekend.
Well, there’s only one thing I have to say to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: “Congratulations.”
That’s a great one. Thanks.
