Time for summer fun in Gotham.
Comeback Team of the Year: New York Mets
Since their 2015 World Series run the Mets just haven’t been a team to be reckoned with. In 2016 they snuck into the Wild Card playoff only to fall at the hands of the Giants. Last year, NY was twenty+ games below .500. But if the pitching staff can stay healthy and veteran signees, like Gonzales and Frazier. can return to form then the Mets will surprise.
AL Champions: New York Yankees
This is “the year” for the Yankees. On offensive, they have a balance of veteran leadership and youth. And I don’t see pitching problems–an issue in past seasons–to shorten the Bombers’ October run. That’s because this year’s staff blends up-and-comers with experience. And once the bullpen is called on, teams have to brace for Betances or Chapman. Good luck!
NL Champions: Chicago Cubs
This fall will be a Fox (TV, that is) match made in heaven–two mega-market, powerhouse teams clashing for MLB supremacy. Chicago won’t repeat the clean-up it experienced last year in the NLCS courtesy of LAD. This year they’ll be back. That’s because of off-season moves, acquiring the accomplished Darvish, the nifty Quintana, and the promising Chatwood. Those three bolster a strong starting rotation that complements a powerful offense. Expect the Cubs to win the NL.
World Series Champions: New York Yankees
I predict the Yanks to win in six. The Series will turn on which team can win the slugfest and hold on to win tight games. The Yanks get the nod because their stellar pen gives them the upper hand. Expect high viewer ratings, competitive games, and the title to come East. These Yankees are a dynasty … again.
