Raptors, hitting on all cylinders. look to continue dominating as series moves to Washington.
TORONTO, ON – The #1-seed Toronto Raptors are showing why they’re a legitimate contender in the 2018 NBA Playoffs. Toronto raced past the Washington Wizards Tuesday night, 130-119, to take a 2-0 series lead–the first such lead–in franchise history.
DeMar DeRozan led the Raptors with 37 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Buddy Kyle Lowry added 13 points and 12 dimes. Serge Ibaka, a force inside the paint, collected three blocks.
The Raptors held the lead for most of the game in a contest where bench-power was on display.
Substitutes combined for 105 points with the Wizards’ bench contributing 63 of those points.
But make no mistake about it, the Raptor’s starters put the game away. “DeMar is an unbelievable player, All-NBA, MVP-type caliber player,” Lowry said during his post-game interview. “He’s just growing as a player and every year I’ve been with him he continues to get better.”
He’s right, but there’s more. Toronto’s prominence is a team effort with superb ball movement, spacing, and team defense.
Game 3 will be played in Washington on Friday night. Tip time is 8 p.m. ET
