Pride Is Spelled MEMORIAL MUSTANGS!

How great it was to see this generation of Memorial High student-athletes win a state championship!

When history is made in sports it’s one of the greatest feelings ever–not just for players and coaches, but for fans, too. A great example is when the Houston Astros beat the Los Angeles Dodgers to win baseball’s World Series.

Another great moment in Houston happened last weekend–April 21st, 2018, to be specific–when the Memorial High Mustangs won the UIL 6a State girls soccer championship. Grace Yochum and with Grace Collins scored goals in the 3-0 win against Lewisville Marcus. Collins, a junior, was named MVP.

With the win, the Mustangs finished the year undefeated, going 28-0-1.

Why did I take note? I was a student-athlete at Memorial High (football and track). And how great it was to see this generation of student-athletes win a state championship!

But I certainly wasn’t alone. The entire Spring Branch ISD was behind the Mustangs, and many Houston area schools were, too. “We’re behind you guys, go get that title,” read one tweet.

Congratulations, Memorial Mustangs girls soccer. You are the champs!
