After Thirteen Long Years, Timberwolves Are Back In The Playoffs

Now the fun begins.

Minneapolis, MN – The Minnesota Timberwolves clinched a spot in the postseason Thursday night with an overtime win vs. the Nuggets, 112-106.

Jimmy Butler led the Wolves with 31 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Karl-Anthony Towns added 26 points and was dominant inside the paint with 14 rebounds. Andrew Wiggins hit two clutch free throws in OT to seal it.

Minnesota ended its drought–13 consecutive seasons without making the playoffs–one season shy of tying the Los Angeles Clippers for longest playoff drought in NBA history.

“I’ll probably fall asleep tonight and wake up in the middle of the night and start crying,” said Towns, who was eight years old the last time the Wolves were in the playoffs. “It’ll hit me.”

The Wolves started the season hot, but then wavered after Butler was injured. Butler’s return helped propel Minnesota to a post-season spot.

They’ll now meet the top-seeded Rockets in the first round. Buckle up!
