There is no shortage of talent on this team and it showed in the very first game.
I grew up all across the U.S., but have always been a Packers fan. In baseball, I grew up a Yankees fan before I became a Brewers fan. In basketball, I was a Bulls fan. But when I moved to Wisconsin, I started following the Bucks. Slowly, but surely, the Bucks have garnered my attention and respect as a fan and sports writer.
This year the Bucks opened on the road with a win over the Boston Celtics, 108-100. Milwaukee had an MVP performance from Giannis Antekokounmpo, who had 37 points and 13 rebounds. Kevin Durant said recently that Giannis could be the greatest to ever play the game.
The Bucks will need every ounce of great play if they’re to take the next step in team development–to not only contend for a playoff spot but to shoot for the NBA Finals. And it’s possible they will.
In addition to Giannis, there’s star point guard Malcolm Brogdon and off-and-on shooting guard Khris Middleton. Middleton needs to find more consistency in his shooting. And injured forward, Jabari Parker, could be this team’s X-factor when he returns to the lineup.
Because this is a young team, Coach Jason Kidd will need to keep this squad grounded and focused. That recipe includes taking things one game at a time and not getting ahead of themselves.
Bottom line? There is no shortage of talent on this team and that showed in the very first game.
