For a quarterback in the NFL, it usually takes about three full years to learn and run a system. Brett Hundley is entering his third season with the Packers. Now he’s being asked to take over for injured Aaron Rodgers.
How long Rodgers will be out is yet to be determined. In the meantime, Hundley is “The Next Guy Up.” The Packers never make excuses and Green Bay won’t do that now with Hundley under center.
Expectations remain the same–win the NFC North, get into the playoffs, and make a run for The Super Bowl. The mission is harder now, but it’s not impossible.
It’s a great opportunity for Hundley. To succeed, he’ll need to get the timing down with the Packers’ first-string WRs, and improve his ability to move outside the pocket–a big item, given the fact that Hundley was sacked 11 times during the preseason and four times in last Sunday’s game against the Vikings.
Hundley has talent. In his three years at UCLA, he passed for nearly 10,000 yards and ran for another 1500 yards.
Hundley is a dual-threat QB, who’ll be entertaining to watch.
