One thing’s for sure when the Packers square-off against the Falcons this week: Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan are two of the best QBs in the NFL.
Forget about last year. The focus in on 2017 and the ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl. That’s what makes this week’s Sunday Night game so important.
Look for the Packers defense to come out energized with the front 7 looking to pressure Ryan–just as they did against Russell Wilson last week. The secondary can’t give up big plays and the D-line–Mike Daniels, especially–will need to build on last week’s game.
The X-factor for the Packers will be special teams’ coverage. If the Packers kick-off and punt coverage can limit the Falcons’ field position, that will give the defense plenty of opportunities to make big plays.
For the Falcons, there’s no question that Julio Jones will need to get back on track after a poor showing against the Bears. But the real threat to the Packers’ D is RB Tevin Coleman and his playmaking ability in the passing game.
But make no mistake about it. Rodgers and Co. will do what they always do best–utilize the weapons they have. And the Packers have a lot of weapons. Rodgers will lean on pass-catching vets, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, along with newcomer, Martellus Bennett, to exploit the Falcons secondary.
It should be an exciting and high-scoring contest!
