Bengals – Packers Preview

In what could have been an entertaining affair–featuring Dalton/Green vs. Rodgers/Nelson–this game will now be a convincing Packers win.

Fall weekends in Wisconsin mean a couple of things, including beer, brats, cheese, tailgating, and football. Losing isn’t one of them.

The Packers’ last losing season was 2008. For the Badgers it was 2001.

Last Sunday the Packers lost to the Atlanta Falcons … again. While the loss was surprising and difficult to watch, we know the Packers are a resilient team. An added boost this week is that the Cincinnati Bengals are struggling.

I’d like to say something meaningful about the Bengals, but I just can’t do it. The Bengals are just slightly better than the Jets, and Jets’ fans know their team is almost not-the-worst. Andy Dalton ranks as the 21st overall QB. He’s completing only 54.5% of his passes with no TDs and 4 INTs. To make matters worse, the Bengals offense hasn’t scored a TD! The defense isn’t much better.

For the Packers it’s about the passing game. With Jordy Nelson’s uncertainty and Randall Cobb possibly getting limited playing time, Davante Adams will continue to be Rodgers’ go-to guy. And Martellus Bennett needs to turn around his game and stop dropping the ball.

The Packers’ high-octane offense should be plenty to thwart any resemblance of a Bengals’ threat. It could have been a really entertaining game, featuring Dalton/Green vs. Rodgers/Nelson. But now this is a game for the Packers to win convincingly.

I predict a dominating win against a lesser team.
