Winning the Southese Asian Games championship is her ultimate goal.
Newly appointed Philippine women’s national football team head coach, Let Dimzon, is eying Southeast Asian Games glory with the Malditas in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Dimzon is an experienced coach. She handled girls’ U16 in the AFC Qualifiers in 2016 and the U14 team that won AFC Regional Championship silver in 2014. Shealso won four UAAP titles during her time as head coach of the Far Eastern University women’s football team.
Despite all of those achievements, come August, winning the SEA Games is her ultimate goal.
The Philippine women’s national team, which qualified for the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Jordan, is blessed with quality and experienced players. New players have joined the squad, too, which Dimzon said is “a good thing for the team.”
The team has been preparing by playing against experienced male youth teams in the Philippines. “Earlier our problem was how to organize the defensive line. Now we are doing that. The players are playing their parts. They are executing our training plan despite playing against stronger male opponents.”
The next step will be traveling to Japan for an 8-day camp before departing for Malaysia to play against a difficult slate of competitors, including Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, and Vietnam in group competition.
The coach has set her sights high: “Our target is to win all the games. We’ll take things one game one at a time.”
