This young goal scorer has the potential to be a top player, not only in the Philippines but worldwide. Remember his name–Genesis Aaron Elefan.
In 2016 I wrote that the future of Philippines’ soccer looks bright with the coming of a prolific goal scorer. And here I am again writing about that same prodigy, a player who may answer the call of many Filipinos for homegrown talent on the national team.
Genesis Aaron Elefan (born 9 June 2002) is a Filipino youth footballer who plays forward for the Philippine Youth Football League club, Loyola Meralco FC, and the Philippine National Youth team, Little Azkals U15.
Aaron is a football talent. With endless potential, it’s no wonder that renowned universities in the Philippines are rallying for his signature–even though he is (at this writing) on full scholarship with Arellano University.
Last year Aaron was among the Little Azkals U14 group that went to Brunei for the AFC festival of football. Currently he’s in camp with the Philippines Little Azkals U15 preparing for play in Thailand.
Aaron is known by his former teammates at FC Metro Manila as ‘The Horse Power” because of his strength, speed, and aggressiveness. He’s a humble player, but he’s also confident in his ability. His style of play does not rely on only one of his key strengths, his pace, but when he’s in space he uses his speed to beat opponents.
He’s currently the top scorer in the Philippine Youth Football League U15 with 12 goals.
Aaron has also faced failure,. Last year he was denied a place in Meralco Sparks FC UFL U14 team–even after he was the top scorer for FC Metro Manila in the Mabuhay Football League. The setback may have been due to the fact that new teammates did not know him well.
Aaron is direct when facing the opponent’s goal and his football intelligence is outstanding for so young a player.
Aaron took translated failure into motivation and started training four times a day. Then he got a message from Ceres La Salle Youth to come for a trial. During the 2016 season he represented the team in UFL Youth U14 and scored the winning goal as Ceres went home with a plate trophy.
Aaron finally ended up in Meralco FC in 2016 after the UFL Youth League season. His first test as a Meralco player came in Pilipinas Cup. During the Cup, he scored a hat trick within minutes of his appearance.
Aaron has a wide range of football techniques. He has tactical awareness and his desire to learn new things sets him apart. He also has speed and size (he’s already 5’8″). He has mental toughness and confidence in his ability to play well under under pressure.
This young goal scorer certainly has the potential to be a top player, not only in the Philippines but worldwide. Remember his name–Genesis Aaron Elefan.
