The Memphis Tigers and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers put on an offensive show last night in the Boca Raton Bowl. The Hilltoppers rolled up over 600 yards of total offense on their way to a 51-31 win.
Tops’ running back Anthony Wales had an historic night. Wales carried the ball 35 times for 245 yards and three scores along with 84 receiving yards. Wales was the unanimous MVP in a memorable bowl game performance.
The offenses were in gear early and often, racking up 1,000 total yards and scoring 82 points. Memphis’ quarterback Riley Ferguson and wide receiver Anthony Miller connected on three scores. Ferguson ended up with 372 yards, 151 of those to Miller.
WKU’s Mike White threw for over 300 yards along with three TDs. Taywan Taylor had 144 receiving yards along with a TD. Those performance, along with Wales’ output, was just too much for the Tigers to overcome.
