KALAMAZOO, MI (STS) – THE PRESEASON OPENER KINDA WENT THE WAY HEAD COACH NICK BOOTLAND AND THE KWINGS ENVISIONED IT TO BE–AN ALL OUT BATTLE–BUT THE KWINGS LOST 1-0 TO TOLEDO.
THE TEAM LOOKED TO REBOUND ON SUNDAY AGAINST THE BRAMPTON BEAST. THE KWINGS FELT CONFIDENT THAT THEY COULD USE THEIR STYLE OF PLAY AND SECURE A WIN. THE GAME WAS TIGHT, 0-0 THRU 1 PERIOD BUT, IN PERIOD 2, BRAMPTON SCORED FIRST AT THE 4:14 MARK. DAVID PACAN SCORED A POWER PLAY GOAL (HIS FIRST OF THE SEASON) BREAKING 0-0 TIE, GIVING THE BEAST A 1-0 LEAD.
THE KWINGS GOT A SCORE OF THEIR OWN AT THE 10:16 AS TANNER SORENSON PUNCHED ONE THRU (HIS FIRST OF THE SEASON), RETYING THE GAME 1-1. BRAMPTON TOOK OVER EARLY IN THE 3RD PERIOD.
NICK MCPARLAND SCORED AT THE 2:25 MARK (HIS FIRST OF THE SEASON), GIVING BRAMPTON A LEAD 2-1. BRAMPTON WENT UP 3-1 WHEN MARK SCOTT JACKLIN TRICKLED ONE THRU (HIS FIRST OF THE SEASON) PAST KWINGS GOALIE NICK RIOPEL AT 16:32.
KWINGS GOT ONE BACK LATE AT 19:48 MARK BY NEWLY ACQUIRED FORMER AND FORMER WESTERN MICHIGAN STANDOUT, JOSH PITT, BUT THAT WAS IT AS THE KWINGS LOST TO BRAMPTON 3-2.
BRAMPTON’S GOALIE BRYON PITTON WAS 28SV/30SH IN THE WIN. KWINGS NICK RIOPEL EARNED THE LOSS.
