Storyline: Maryland football staff is hauling in the prospects. These stars are playing at high schools all over the country, but many hail from Maryland’s backyard, “The DMV.”

It’s early-on in the recruiting process for 2017, but D.J. Durkin and the Maryland staff are already making waves with huge commitments!

The party started when 4-star DT Cam Spence committed to the program a few months ago. Then Maryland landed Kassim Hill, who could be the best Terps’ QB prospect in years. Hill started out his high school career at Gilman, a very completive school in Baltimore MD. Then he transferred to St. Johns High School in DC where he will have a chance to play against quality programs, like DeMatha and Gonzaga Prep.

Spence has since joined Hill at St. Johns. But the biggest recruit Durkin has been able to land is the #1 DE in the country (by 247 Sports), Joshua Kaindoh. Kaindoh hails from the IMG Academy in Florida, arguably the best and most competitive high school football program in the country.

After landing 3-star LB Ayinde Eley from Good Counsel High, Maryland is also in the running for 5-star DE Chase Young from DeMatha and 4-star DE Joshua Paschal from Good Counsel.

All of these prospects have something in common: they’re all from “The DMV” (DC, Maryland, and Virgina). Kaindoh and Spence played high school football at IMG, but they also hail from the DMV. Durkin, OC Walt Bell, and Assistant Head Coach Mike London have kept the “DMV to UMD” movement alive, which should help the Terps succeed.

This staff isn’t afraid to go after the best prospects, no matter who they are or where they’re from. Even though these players are all verbal commitments, if they stick and other quality prospects sign-on, then the future will be bright in College Park!
