What WWE Needs To Do With New SmackDown Time

Storyline: Smackdown will be live starting in July, but WWE needs a few changes to optimize viewers’ experience. Written by Peyton Hook, Galesburg, IL

The WWE has announced that Smackdown will now be live on Tuesday night, starting July 19th. Most likely we’ll see the WWE Draft on the Raw Show, July 18th. That’s great for the WWE Universe!

But there’s a lot of stuff we’ll need to see with this major change of scenery.

First, we need a General Manager. WWE has two General Managers in Shane and Stephanie McMahon. WWE needs to split the two: let Shane manage Raw and Steph manage Smackdown. That would be the best way to go in my opinion.

Second, we need to see the WWE Draft again. The WWE draft is where you have a night full of matches on Raw to see who will get a draft pick. But that approach doesn’t work because there aren’t ‘show stars.’ WWE could do a drawing by superstar. For example, Randy Orton could draw first by picking a Smackdown card, meaning he’d now be on Smackdown. So, in his match against a Raw-drawing star, whomever won that match gets the pick. That approach would be best for business!

Third, we need to see another main title belt on Smackdown. I loved it when the WWE Championship was on Raw and the World Heavyweight Championship was on Smackdown. It was better because you had two different brands fighting for two different titles. Hopefully WWE will bring back that idea.

Finally, WWE should start another program on Thursday or Friday night. I know the WWE Network has different shows, but WWE should have NXT or Superstars back on TV. I’m a WWE Network Subscriber myself, but having it on TV is so much better. Heck, maybe the WWE could have WWE Network, just like the NFL or NBA.
