Storyline: The venue change for T-20–from Dharamsala to Kolkata–is a good step. Written by Muhammad Waleed Asfandyar, Karachi, Pakistan
The date of T-20 World Cup announced by the international cricket council (ICC) is drawing near.
Not a single person can deny that the game of cricket is likely to run blood in the veins of peoples. But, more than anything, cricket is a game of communication, a symbol of peace. Unfortunately, some activists and extremists use this peaceful game as a platform for agitation, to amplify anger between countries.
That’s why the venue change–from Dharamshala to Kolkata–is a good step taken by the ICC and BCCI. I appreciate this act as a Pakistani. A move like this can help improve international affairs, particularly between Pakistan and India.
