Storyline: Davison Athletics Complex, LaTech’s new $22-million football facility, is fitting testimony to one of America’s top football brands.
Last week’s National College Football Signing Day at Louisiana Tech was unlike any in its history. The signees of 2016 are first to be recruited amid the grandeur of the Davison Athletics Complex, LaTech’s new $22-million football facility. Although the sketch design was unveiled to new recruits back in 2008, it wasn’t until now that the building is a reality.
The 70,000-square-foot facility, located at the south end zone of Joe Aillet Stadium, includes locker and weight rooms, position meetings rooms, offices and a lounge. No ordinary football facility it was designed by Nashville-based branding and design firm, ADVENT. The building tells the unique story of the Bulldog football program and its impact on college sports. The facility’s striking design was intended to capture the imagination of new recruits.
“We wanted to communicate what it is we’re trying to say about Louisiana Tech in a way that’s inspiring, but also reflective. We want to share the proud tradition,” Athletic Director Tommy McClellan explained.
The details are designed to impress: bold backlit photos of current players, dramatic images of Bulldogs on the field, and an NFL Hall of Fame Wall honoring alumni greats, like Terry Bradshaw and Willie Roaf.
Current players report that seeing themselves featured throughout the facility instills a sense of pride. Fans and donors say that the highlight is the legacy of Tech’s football program.
LaTech is in a highly competitive recruiting environment. Creating what’s arguably the best football facility in Conference USA will help attract top athletes–inspiring them to become part the Bulldog legacy.
