With many of your drafts quickly approaching, there is one position that will make or break your season. While running backs should be a high priority, fantasy quarterbacks will set the tone and help shape a balanced team. That’s the way it works on a real roster and that’s the way it will work on your fantasy roster.
Now I know there are three guys up there that are far above the rest as we enter the season. Rodgers, Luck and Wilson stand out like Yao Ming in a locker room full of jockeys. With that said they are going to fly off the board early and cost way too much in an auction format. The good news for you is, I’m about to tell you why you shouldn’t worry if you can’t get one of them. If you are in the position to draft one or not over pay, by all means, pull the trigger and get him. If not, I have two QB’s that will post similar numbers at a much better price or draft position. This equates to a great value and will allow you to overpay or reach for your star RB or WR.
First, I’ll start with the most underrated fantasy quarterbacks on the list, Eli Manning. Here is a guy that gets absolutely no respect yet, in 2014 he threw for 30 touchdowns and 4,410 yards. That was with his 2 biggest weapons, Cruz and Beckham missing time due to injury. If both receivers can stay healthy, look for Eli to post similar numbers to Luck and Rodgers. Beckham showed us last year what a dynamic playmaker he is and Eli is more than comfortable to give chances to shine. The Giants also drafted OT Ereck Flowers in the first round to sure up the front line and give Eli better protection as well as adding Shane Vareen to help the run game and catching balls in the backfield.
The second of the fantasy quarterbacks may have some of you scratching your heads but rest assured that Jay Cutler will be the come-back story of the year. While I will admit that last year resembled that of a Ronda Rousey opponent for Cutler, the Bears have rallied behind him and are ready to take off. New offensive coordinator, Adam Gase, has brought a breath of fresh air to this organization and given new life to Jay. His schemes make more sense, his attitude is professional and according to teammates, “They just vibe.” Cutler has taken tremendous strides this offseason and appears to be the leader that Chicago has longed for him to be. His confidence is at an all-time high, and with his teammates and coaches behind him, look for Cutler to shine in this new system.
There you go. You already knew the top three but know you have the “other” two you should look at to build your team around.
