Storyline: Fantasy players need to solid replacement picks when popular players are lost for the year. Here are ideas for replacing WR Kelvin Benjamin.
Another major NFL player and popular Fantasy pick is down. Kelvin Benjamin was entering his 2nd year after having a strong rookie season. During his rookie year he contributed 1,008 receiving yards along with 9 touchdowns.
Fantasy owners had been watching this young stud. Now he’s gone. What do we do?
We need another tall WR to give us hope. It’s hard to replace a productive 6′ 5″ giant, but we’ll try. Here are several guys who have upside.
Mike Evans, Buccaneers: This WR, also 6′ 5,” had a great rookie season. The Bucs had plenty of trouble last year in the QB position, but the team still produced 1,051 receiving yards with 12 touchdowns. Even the tall veteran, Vincent Jackson, wasn’t able to outproduce Evans last year. Winston is going to be the QB this year and it looks like Evans will be his top target. He is going around Pick 31, on average.
Marques Colston, Saints: The Saints need somebody to fill their offense now that Jimmy Graham is gone. Colston, at 6’ 4,” could do it. Colston had 902 receiving yards with 5 touchdowns last season. Brees will give him plenty of chances to catch the ball, and he should come relatively cheap in Fantasy leagues. This WR is going around Pick 148, on average, so you could get a real steal at the end of your draft.
Others:
– Martavis Bryant, Steelers 6’ 4” (Here’s another second-year man that should be cheap.)
– Andre Johnson, Colts 6’ 3” (Andre will do well now that he actually has a quarterback.)
