There has been a lot going on in sports recently, it does not just include wins and losses, it includes new coaches and new beginnings. Last summer, the Baltimore Ravens had a ton of drama that included Ray Rice. Well, he is back in the news.
Ray Rice is trying to get a second chance as an NFL player. If you would have asked fans from any team, they would give Rice a big ‘heck no’ to a second chance. Now that some time has passed, it looks like his wish might be granted. Although Ray Rice was the ‘bad guy’ of last summer and last football season, we can not forget the other players who have failed their fans acting out of line.
Those players that stick with us as acting out of line were given a second chance. This past year, Ray Rice visited several schools to talk about anti-bulling and behaved while the media was all over him and his family. With that said, it seems like Rice has had a lot of time to think and learned from his mistake. Ray Rice has been making an effort to clear his name and be the person we all know he can be.
Although it has been a stressful month to be an Orioles fan, at least we saw some in the Orioles versus Braves game on Monday, January 27. Nick Markakis returned back to Camden Yards last night, this time playing against the birds. It is easier to see a past player in a different uniform when you win against them. Of course, Markakis going to the Braves was not entirely his fault considering the Orioles did not want to sign him again. Markakis was not born in Georgia, but spend a lot of his childhood living there. If he had to go to any team, I am happy it was the Braves considering he still has family that lives there.
It was also great to see a Baltimore favorite, Matt Wieters give the Orioles the win on Monday with a walk off homerun in the 11th inning. Last time Wieters had a walk-off homerun was versus the Pirates in May 2014. It was time for Wieters to do something big for the Orioles. The Orioles are now 49-49. The Orioles have two more games in the series and stay home for a four game series versus the Tigers.
Will the Orioles win the series? Do you think Ray Rice deserves a second chance, why or why not?
