Led by John Wall and Bradley Beal, the Washington Wizards have done a terrific job staying near the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Washington is looking at making another playoff run this postseason and they would benefit greatly from signing another shooter to add depth to their bench. The perfect player for Washington’s roster: Ray Allen.
Allen played last season with the Miami Heat and is currently a free agent. There have been a lot of rumors of teams pursuing the 39-year old shooting guard but at this moment, it has been reported that the Wizards are the most active and aggressive in trying to obtain Allen’s talents.
He has been a great player all of his career and his skill set would go along way if he were to join the Washington franchise. For his career, he averages 18.9PTs, 4.1 REBs, 3.4ASTs ad 1.1STLs per game. Allen is already known as one of the greatest shooters the NBA has ever seen, averaging 45.2 percent from field goal range and 40.1 percent from behind the arc.
Washington has developed into a strong shooting team. They are currently third in the league with a team field goal percentage of 47.2 and also third in the league from behind the arc with a team shooting percentage of 38.1. Washington needs to continue to pursue Allen because his shooting abilities would make the Wizards one of the biggest offensive threats in the East.
Washington is currently in third place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 33-20. The Wizards are still a very young team that could benefit greatly from Allen’s veteran mentality, presence and leadership. Going after Allen proves that Washington is ready to make a deep playoff run. It also proves that the Wizards believe they have the talent to win it all; they just could be missing a one piece.
The East is wide-open and currently up for the taking. Bringing Allen in to reunite with his former teammate Paul Pierce would go along way for Washington. Allen has great ball handling and shooting skills that would help propel this team towards winning a championship. Before the trade deadline the Wizards will be looking to add to their roster and here is a chance to do so without losing anyone valuable. Without a doubt, the Washington Wizards need to go all-in on trying to sign the free agent Ray Allen.
