1. Houston Texans: Blake Bortles (QB Central Florida)
It seems more and more likely that the Texans will pass on the best player in the draft to find a franchise QB. Not only does Bortles have the physical attributes that new HC O’Brian looks for in QBs, he has the a diverse skill set similar to Andrew Luck, with his ability to make all the throws and run the football.
2. St. Louis Rams (From Washington Redskins): Sammy Watkins (WR Clemson)
Watkins is an explosive play-maker, that can stretch the field or make people miss in the open field. He has average height for WRs, but does have a good build to make up for it. He simply makes all the players around him better, with the ability to be a true No. 1 target.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Teddy Bridgewater (QB Louisville)
Bridgewater is the most polished QB in the draft, and should be able to start from day one. The Jaguars have a good young core of WRs that simply someone to get them the ball accurately. Though he doesn’t have overwhelming size or arm strength, he can make all the throws and is a proven leader.
4: Cleveland Browns: Johnny Manziel (QB Texas A&M)
The Browns sorely need a face to the franchise and a play-maker to excite the fans. Though Manziel does not have ideal arm strength or size, he makes creative plays in the passing game and with his feet. He will not only be an improvement from what Cleveland has dealt with at QB, but will fill the stands as well.
5. Oakland Raiders: Jadaveon Clowney (DE South Carolina)
The Raiders need playmakers on both sides of the ball and Clowney is by far the best talent in the draft. HC Allen is a strong defensive mind, that can utilize the powerful DE all over the field. To have Clowney fall in their laps here could be the biggest steal of the draft.
6. Atlanta Falcons: Greg Robinson (OT Auburn)
The Falcons may look to move up for Clowney, but if they stay put, they need to address the LT position. Sam Baker has not lived up to expectations protecting Matt Ryan’s blindside. Keeping their QB upright needs to be their top priority to have any chance to bounce back in 2014.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Khalil Mack (DE Buffalo)
The Bucs defense is lacking an double-team inducing edge-rusher to pair with Gerald McCoy. Mack has the ideal frame and speed to attack QBs, while being able to hold up against the run. He can play with his hand in the dirt on but in space, adding versatility to the front 7.
8. Minnesota Vikings: Anthony Barr (DE UCLA)
Though he lacks the ideal strength to be a 4-3 DE, he has the speed to get around LTs in the NFL. He will need time to add bulk, but can fill a major need against the pass, with an aging defensive line.
9. Buffalo Bills: Mike Evans (WR Texas A&M)
Though the Bills may have bigger needs, Evans could change the face of their offense. His length and ability to go get up the ball vertically will help in E.J. Manuel’s development. Evans can open things up for the rest offensive weapons, by taking on the attention of the opposing defenses.
10. Detroit Lions: Justin Gilbert (CB Oklahoma State)
The Lions pass defense has been lackluster for years, even with a strong pass rush. Gilbert is a physical CB, who can take on the top-notch opposing No. 1 WRs in the NFC North. He is a complete defensive back, who can lock down one half of the field.
11. Tennessee Titans: Jake Matthews (OT Texas A&M)
The Titans have to prepare for life without Michael Roos, as Matthews has the ability to take over the blind side in the near future. Issues with protection and opening running lanes led to their down fall last season, which will be instantly upgraded with addition with the athletic Matthews, who did an excellent job holding blocks for Johnny Manziel.
12. New York Giants: C.J. Mosley (LB Alabama)
Mosley is the only elite MLB prospect in the draft, with his skill-set to be a sideline-to-sideline force in the middle of the field. He adds leadership to a defense that has been turning over for the past couple seasons.
13. St. Louis Rams: Taylor Lewan (OT Michigan)
Even though the Rams have tried on several occasions to fix the issues at LT, they still lack an elite LT to keep Sam Bradford upright. The injury concerns with Jake Long make this a more pressing need for the immediate future and the Lewan can be an anchor for the next decade.
14. Chicago Bears: Louis Nix III (DT Notre Dame)
The Bears have been progressively moving past the Tampa 2 scheme, while needing an anchor in the middle of the defensive line. Nix is a massive man that can move the line of scrimmage, while taking on blockers to free up their LBs.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers: Kelvin Benjamin (WR Florida State)
Even if they do retain Emmanuel Sanders, the Steelers offense still needs a big target for Ben Roethlisberger. Benjamin is a great red-zone target and is an ideal fit in Todd Haley’s open passing game. Though he struggles with making the average catch, he makes up for it with spectacular plays in coverage.
16. Dallas Cowboys: Timmy Jernigan (DT Florida State)
With their move to the Tampa 2 scheme, the Cowboys need an under tackle to penetrate the middle of the line. Jernigan in a good athlete for his size, that can slash through opposing guards and centers. The Cowboys struggled with finding DTs that can hold up throughout the season, making this a top priority.
17. Baltimore Ravens: Ha-Ha Clinton Dix (S Alabama)
Though the Ravens have other needs on the offense, GM Newsome has stated their need for a middle of the field ballhawk. Clinton Dix is the best coverage FS in the draft by far, while also having the size to make tackles in the box. Pairing him with Matt Elam will create the most dynamic tandem in football.
18. New York Jets: Marquise Lee (WR USC)
The Jets may be the most depleted team in terms of skill position talent on the offense. By adding Lee, they get a playmaker that score anytime he gets his hands on the ball. He can stretch the field, opening up lanes for the other targets on the offense.
19. Miami Dolphins: Zach Martin (OL Notre Dame)
After the disaster on the line last season, the Dolphins have lost two starters. Bryant McKinnie is on his last legs as a LT and Martin could be groomed as his replacement. He is a versatile lineman that can help at four different positions.
20. Arizona Cardinals: Eric Ebron (TE UNC)
The Cardinals have needed a TE to stretch the middle of the field for years and Ebron has the size to make plays in traffic. He displays good speed to get open and great size to outduel DBs in the NFL.
21. Green Bay Packers: Darqueze Dennard (CB Michigan State)
The Packers need to upgrade their defensive backfield to slow down the explosive offenses in the NFC North. Dennard can take on bigger WRs, with his ability in man coverage. He also is strong in the running game, giving Green Bay a complete CB.
22. Philadelphia Eagles: Calvin Pryor (S Louisville)
The Eagles Safety issues have been evident for years and need an playmaker in their pass defense. Pryor is a strong tackler, that holds his own in coverage as well. He can play either FS or SS, while adding much needed attitude to the Eagles defensive backfield.
23. Kansas City Chiefs: Jace Amaro TE Texas Tech
HC Reid loves having a TE as a safety net for his QBs, while Alex Smith shown a strong connection with Vernon Davis while in San Francisco. Amaro can be moved around the entire offense, adding another dynamic to a growing passing game.
24. Cincinnati Bengals: Marcus Roberson (CB Florida)
Though they are one of the most complete teams in the NFL, the Bengals dealt with injury and age issues at the CB position in 2013. Roberson proved is coverage skills, going against some of the elite talent in the SEC.
25. San Diego Chargers: Cyrus Kouandjio (OT Alabama)
Kouandjio has great talent to go with his ideal size for the LT position. He fill the hole at the LT position, while paired with former teammate D.J. Fluker on the other side. The two would create on the best young tackle tandems for the next decade.
26. Cleveland Browns (From Indianapolis Colts): Odell Beckham Jr. (WR LSU)
After taking Johnny Manziel with their first pick, they need to put as much talent around him on offense. Beckham may not wow with any attribute, but is a polished WR, who can catch the balls in traffic and in the middle of the field. He would be the ideal complement to Josh Gordon outside, working the underneath routes.
27. New Orleans Saints: Stephen Tuitt (DE Notre Dame)
The Saints need a replacement for recently released, Will Smith, along the defensive line. Tuitt is the perfect fit in the 3-4 system, with his ability to take on blocks as a three-techniques, opening things up for their bevy of pass-rushers.
28. Carolina Panthers: Brandin Cooks (WR Oregon State)
Cam Newton needs more targets on offense to continue his development as a passer. Cooks is a sure-handed target, who runs great routes to get open in the middle of the field. He can play in the slot or on the outside, adding versatility to their passing game.
29. New England Patriots: Dominque Easley (DL Florida)
The Patriots need to add depth across their defensive line, especially with concerns on how much Vince Wilfork has left. Easley has the versatility that HC Belicheck looks for in his defensive players, as he can play all positions along the line.
30. San Francisco 49ers: Jason Verrett (CB TCU)
The 49ers are a complete team that does not need many upgrades. Verrett gives them another good corner, that can cover most NFL WRs. He has the upside to be a lock-down corner, that can play the run and the pass.
31. Denver Broncos: Kony Ealy (DE Missouri)
The Broncos defense needs to improve to keep up with the standards of the offense. Ealy adds another edge-rusher, to take pressure off Von Miller. After watching the way the Seahawks front 7 attacked Peyton Manning, they should try to replicate that intensity on the edge.
32. Seattle Seahawks: Austin Seferian-Jenkins (TE Washington)
Russell Wilson needs more help on the outside to improve his passing numbers. Seafrin-Jenkins has great upside, as a big target, with athleticism at the TE position. He can be a go-to receiver, that he can snatch the ball away from opposing defensive backs.
