Christmas is under two weeks away and while the rest of European clubs are about to enter their winter break the Premier League soccer schedule is cranking up to the most intense part of the season, which leaves the players very little time to go and do their shopping.
I am sure like us they even have people who they buy presents for and who buy presents for them and you have to think they would really be quite difficult to buy for. In a sport in which everyone is earning a lot more than the majority of us you have to wonder, what exactly do you get the English Premier League player who has everything?
In the next few slides I will address what I think some of the Premierships players and managers would love to have wrapped up, underneath their tree when they wake up on Christmas morning. Due to the time I have narrowed it down to five specific items for five specific individuals and have not included Joe Harts wish for his starting spot back. Nor have I included Sam Allardyce or Chris Hughton’s wish for a striker to score them goals.
Also missing from the list is Robin Van Persie’s wish for all the Arsenal greatest goals DVD from seasons 2004 to 2012. He is a sentimental Dutchman!
Manuel Pellegrini recently turned down our offer to provide him with a guide to European mathematics prior to Christmas Day which was a surprise. So here are the five gifts which made the list.
5)
This has to be number one on the list that John Terry submitted to Santa this year. The Chelsea and Ex England Captain has been linked with having affairs.
The most famous being ex friend and team mate Wayne Bridge’s French girlfriend.
4)
This could be a gift for numerous Managers but I have decided to give the Lord Mayors hat to Sunderland boss Gus Poyet.
No one is in more need of the three points.
3)
This would have been the ideal gift for Manchester City as they too haven’t been in Europe in January, but I decided against it because they are managed by Manuel Pellegrin, who has.
This gift will instead go to Michael Laudrup of Swansea, who after a great Europa League Group campaign now find themselves in the knockout stage.
2)
It is a completely different Manchester United side this season. There seems to be no real passion and if they need a goal in the last minute you have the feeling they do not believe thay can actually get it anymore.
After refusing my gift of the Sir Alex Ferguson Bio I decided maybe this CD would be the next best thing. Play it in the changing rooms and once again give them the hairdryer treatment!
1)
After coming back from yet another lengthy ban the Liverpool and Uruguay striker, Luis Suarez is starting to win back the fans, of all teams.
With this gift he can really get his teeth into an Evanovich (Ivanovic)!
