Week #6

Carolina Offense at Minnesota

DeAngelo Williams Due: Despite flying under the radar, DeAngelo Williams is having a very productive season thus far. On pace to rush for over 1,300 yards, Williams and is averaging 4.5 yards per carry and will be matched up against a Vikings defense that has allowed the third most fantasy points per game to opposing backfields. Averaging 18.5 carries per game, Williams has yet to score a touchdown; this week the drought ends.

Panthers Defense: The Panthers offense should benefit from their defense this week. While the Vikings were able to sign Josh Freeman this week, they have decided to start Matt Cassel, with Christian Ponder active as Cassel’s back-up. Let’s be honest, none of these quarterbacks are likely to be successful against a Carolina defense that has already produced nine turnovers in their first four games. The Panthers offense should see the short side of the field early and often.

Outlook: Look for Cam Newton to have a bounce-back game after a dreadful performance against Arizona last week. With Jonathon Stewart slated to return next week, DeAngelo Williams has one more shot to prove he is the Panthers best option at running back, expect success. Regardless who finishes the game as the Vikings quarterback, expect the Minnesota offense to struggle and give the Carolina offense ample opportunity to score upwards of 30 points.
