It took just seven seconds into the new season, for the New York Giants opening day to turn ugly.
Eli Manning threw an interception, and its been downhill all the way since.
The 89 year old franchise has seen many false starts to the opening season, but who saw this coming?
Removing veteran coach Tom Coughlan is the popular theory, but the Giants problems run much deeper that that.
Perry Fewell’s defense has not functioned properly, since post regular season 2010. On that occasion the Giants papered over a patchy regular season, with a spectacular Super Bowl winning surge.
The pass rush is none existent, the ratio of one per game, makes the Giants rush feel more like a Teddy’s Bears picnic, for opposing teams.
Fear not however, all lovers of The Big Blue.
If you think the Giants win/loss ratio is something to be concerned about, here is a staggering fact.
The Giants do more with less wins, than any other team in the NFL.
The 2007 Super Bowl winning Giants had a 10-6 record, tying the worst numbers ever
posted by a winner of the games biggest prize.
They then broke that record in 2011, when posting a 9-7 total on the way to a red hot post season, and ultimate glory.
Yes folks the Giants do more with a lot less. So 0-6 is no big deal yet, the Divisional powerhouses of Philly, Dallas, and Washington, combining to make the NFC East the worst in the National Football League.
Super optimists can point to the salient fact that the Giants are but two games of the pace, and if Manning re-discovers his mojo, another Big Blue miracle is in the offing.
Pessimists already charting a course for 2014.
Who would have foreseen the KC Chiefs on 6-0, and the Big Blue on 0-6, any given Sunday eh?
