I’m still here.
Despite ranking the Angry Chunks Shady McCoys (Brett’s fantasy team – aka the creator of this website) as one of the worst teams in The League after draft day, I’m still here dropping all kinds of fantasy knowledge on you again this week. If you’re following The League, you know that yours truly, with a little help from Peyton Manning, went to work on The Impregnable Defense last week and put together a solid victory to start the season.
This week, after several days of mass hysteria in the fantasy football world due to the typical overreaction of owners everywhere after 1 performance, the clouds have cleared and week 2 of The League is ready for action. Below is a brief recap of some transactions made during the week as well as a few intriguing matchups to keep your eye on. Good luck to all in your week 2 matchups!
The Wire
With just one week of sample size, The League was still pretty active on the waiver wire this week. Week 1 doesn’t usually tell you all that much about the prospects of your fantasy team as a whole, but it does usually give you an idea of whether that lottery ticket player you picked up in the 14th round is going to play any kind of role at all. 5 teams went to the wire this week and made some roster adjustments:
Impregnable Defense: Dropped Zach Sudfeld and Bernard Pierce, Added Owen Daniels and Jonathan Dwyer.
Team Sherwood: Dropped Ryan Broyles, Colts DEF, and Broncos DEF, Added Raiders DEF, Bilal Powell, and Dallas Clark
Team Fischer: Added Julian Edelman
Team Blackburn: Dropped Rams DEF, Added Cowboys DEF
Team Powers: Dropped Kenny Britt, Added Leonard Hankerson
Sudfeld and Broyles were two of the previously mentioned lottery tickets that showed no future prospects in week 1 so I’m not surprised their owners let them go. Team Fischer’s pickup of Edelman was a nice grab as it appears Tom Brady has no one else to throw to at the moment (this proved to be the case last night as Edelman grabbed 13 receptions).
The Matchups
Week 2 features only one battle of 1-0 teams as Team Blackburn and Puig Destroyer go at it for a chance to start the year 2-0. The edge goes to Destroyer here with a solid RB core, an exciting WR tandem and a dynamic passer in Kaepernick. And after the Patriots DEF put up 17.6 points for him last night, Destroyer is off to a strong start in this one.
Another interesting matchup this week pits two 0-1 teams against each other in Team Sherwood and Angry Chunks Shady McCoys. This one is shaping up to be a battle of explosive running backs with the McCoys boasting a team of LeSean McCoy and Reggie Bush, while Sherwood sends CJ Spiller and Matt Forte to do battle. I like Sherwood’s team a little more overall, but it may come down to the flex spot with each team using a RB there (McCoys with Chris Johnson and Sherwood with Lamar Miller). Somebody’s going to start 0-2 which is not what either owner was hoping for.
Check back on Tuesday to see the scoring breakdown from the weekend and the updated standings here in The League!
