As noted before, there is several fantasy players that will want you to rip your hair out (or in my case, my beard out, since I’m bald and all). The goal for your draft is try to avoid some of those players that have just enough potential to warrant starting them, yet do not produce nearly enough to make an impact on the box score. The best example is Larry Fitzgerald in 2012; he was a consistent fantasy stud, with a big name and the best target on the Cardinals. The problem was he had no one to get him the ball.
This is part two of the Avoid List:
Le’Veon Bell (RB Pittsburgh Steelers)
The past couple seasons have seen the Steelers struggle in the running game. Last year, they deployed a flurry of big backs (in the mold of Jerome Bettis) including: Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer. Those two are still on the roster, as well as adding “scat” back Larod Stephens-Howling into the mix. Bell will be competing (and splitting carries) with 3 other RBs. The days of the one workhorse back in Pittsburgh is officially dead.
Ed Dickson (TE Baltimore Ravens)
It looked good to draft Dickson a couple weeks ago, when Dennis Pitta went down for the season with a hip injury. But since then, Baltimore added two more tight ends (Dallas Clark and Visanthe Shiancoe) and a slot receiver (Brandon Stokley). That is enough to take away valuable catches from the former Oregon product. Add in his inconsistency catching the football and his own injury concerns; there is plenty of reasons to leave Dickson off your roster.
Brian Hartline (WR Miami Dolphins)
Hartline makes the list even though he had a breakout season, with over a 1000 yards for the first time in his career, in 2012. The reason why he had such a good year; he was the only viable target for Ryan Tannehill. After adding in Mike Wallace, Brandon Gibson and Dustin Keller in the offseason, he now will be relegated as the No. 3 or 4 option for the Dolphins; not exactly someone you want in your starting lineup.
