Happy Holidays everyone. In keeping with tradition this year, we will be sharing resolutions from all over the sports landscape. Here’s my list of pending resolutions.
Philadelphia Eagles Management: For the 2013 season, we will no longer give out bloated contracts (Kevin Kolb, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Michael Vick), based on one good season and unrealistic expectations.
Michael Jordan: I will hire Charles Barkley as my new GM. Charles isn’t getting this position because he’s one of my best friends but based on the fact that, he’s probably the only one in my organization that has the stones to tell me that my decision making SUCKS!!!!! Based on my personnel decisions in Washington (sorry Brett and Lavar) and now in Charlotte, it’s clear that I need a swift kick in my pants and Charles is just man enough to do it.
Dr. Jerry Buss: In the new year, I promise to not let my son Jim make any decisions that will impact the direction of the Lakers franchise.
Demarcus Cousins: I will stop throwing tantrums and pointing the finger at everyone not responsible for my behavior. I will also stop throwing punches at opposing players crotches (O.J. Mayo).
Phoenix Suns GM, Lance Blanks: I will finally have the courage to get rid of Alvin Gentry. Even I must admit that I couldn’t imagine not making the playoffs with a healthy Steve Nash and a slowed down Diesel (Shaquille O’Neal). Alvin’s a great guy but the players just aren’t responding to his methods.
Detroit Pistons Owner, Tom Gores: I must find a way to show Joe Dumars the door. Even though his past decisions were made under old management (trading Chauncey Billups to Denver for an aging and disgruntled Allen Iverson, hiring Michael Curry as coach, and signing Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva for a total of ninety million dollars combined), he’s made some questionable decisions since I purchased the team. Sorry Joe. Hall of Fame player but lower than average GM over the past 8 seasons.
I could go on and on with the resolutions but, let’s give these guys a minute to at least attempt to make good on their current ones. Once again, happy holidays to my Sports Column family and our great readers!
